Πριν 118 χρόνια στις 8 Οκτωβρίου η κυρία Πάνκχερστ ίδρυσε την Πολιτική και Κοινωνική Ένωση Γυναικών που έγραψε ιστορία.
Είναι οι γιαγιάδες μας, οι αδελφές μας Σουφραζέτες που σόκαραν τον ανδροκρατούμενο κόσμο απαιτώντας ισότητα των φύλων, ισότητα στην εργασία. Πολύ συνειδητοποιημένες, αρνήθηκαν να μπουν στο καλούπι του ασθενούς φύλου και αγωνίστηκαν με διαδηλώσεις, απεργίες πείνας (στις οποίες συμμετείχαν και οι κόρες της ιδρύτριας) και σόκαραν την ανδροκρατούμενη κοινωνία με τις αντιδράσεις τους (όπως το να χτυπήσουν αστυνομικό) και γενικά τη μαχητικότητά τους.
Τους χρωστάμε πολλά, όλες μας. Κι είναι με μεγάλη χαρά που παρουσιάζω εδώ την παράσταση έργου για την Έμελιν Πάνκχερστ που κάνει πρεμιέρα στο Λονδίνο στις 8 Νοεμβρίου.

On this day 118 years ago Emmeline Pankhurst, and her daughters Christabel and Sylvia, formed the Women’s Social and Political Union. They made history with their extreme acts of protest, including arson attacks and hunger strikes.

"EMMELINE-The Suffragette Movement", a brand-new play written by Beatrice Hyde that consists of 16 brilliant actors and a fully female creative and production team. The show opens on the 3rd of November at 7.00pm and runs until the 14th of November 2021.
1898: Women fight for the vote and their rights. The play covers 20 years of this incredible historical time. The production is huge and beautiful. The social injustice a century later, is still present. Gender. Equality. Ideals. Personal choices. A production not to be missed.
Really honoured and excited that Helen Pankhurst , the great granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst, will be with us at the panel of the post show Q&As ( Questions and Answers with the audience) on Saturday the 6th and Thursday the 11th of November.

Emmeline follows the journey of the inspirational leader of the Suffrage movement on her life's mission to achieve the vote for women. Delving into the dynamics of the Pankhurst family, Emmeline explores the tensions that arose between her and her daughter Sylvia on militant tactics and social values, emblematic of the conflicts that divided the movement.
